Speed control is regulated through the drive control of the main drum while tension and torque control are regulated through the rewind arms drive control and pneumatics. The digital control system monitors the tension throughout the machine through variable torque and speeds being provided to the main drum and the individual drive arms. Tension of the rewind arms against the main drum is regulated through the pneumatic control to the arm cylinders. Torque to the rewind shafts is regulated by the motor controls on each arm. View Larger Photo The differential shafts have side-loading yokes in place to provide pressure against the loaded cores. The yokes are loaded pneumatically and the pressure is variable for the amount of slip desired. Spacer rings are used to separate the individual cores on each opposing shaft. There is a groove in the shafts that allows for the spacer rings to have a set pin to keep them from spinning with the cores. There are (2) sets of shafts provided with the machine so that shafts can be pre-loaded with cores and rings and staged for quick exchange in production. Programming through a PLC and readout screen allows for batch file setup and run sequences. Operators can access previously run setups to repeat various parameters on same or similar materials. Main drum is cork covered. Various idler rolls direct the web through the slitting area where a bank of razor slitters will be provided mounted on dovetail bar. Unwind stand is a shafted design with a puck style pneumatic brake. System provides the integral tension system utilizing an idler roll mounted on load cells and a closed loop feedback system to the pneumatic brake. Tension is easy to set to taper as the roll diameter decreases throughout the run. This system surpasses that of an ultrasonic type pickup in that it automatically sets the brake pressure dependent on the actual tension desired rather than the diameter of the parent roll. The stand is mounted on linear bearing slides to facilitate side shifting. There is an edge guide system to automatically track the web and edge guide it into the winder.
